Turning Stone Classic IX – August 18, 2007

Louie Ulrich has been on a roll all week

The brackets for the third day of the Turning Stone Classic IX have been updated and the day itself has been a treat to watch – there were so many great match-ups non-stop, it was almost impossible to choose just one. This is where the bleachers come in real handy. A few highlights of the day: on the winners side of the bracket and representing the female contingent of the tournament, Karen Corr defeated Jimmy Jusman with a score of 9-7 after trailing early in the match. Corr will have her hands full on Sunday as she faces a red-hot Louie Ulrich. Ulrich already has wins over Jasmin Ouschan, Allen Hopkins, Shane Van Boening and Stevie Moore in this event. The other winners side match will feature an all Filipino match as Dennis Orcollo takes on Lee Vann Corteza.

On the one-loss side we had a battle of the young guns, John Morra and Shane Van Boening, Morra was unable to hold of Van Boening and lost 9-4. Van Boening moved on only to lose on the hill to Mike Davis. By this match, Mike Davis had defeated Johnny Archer 9-3 ending his quest for a three-peat, and Jose Parica 9-2. However, Davis would not make it to the Sunday rounds as Tony Robles defeated him with a score of 9-5 by the end of the night.

Play begins on Sunday at 11 a.m.
