Liz Bernier Takes Top Honors at McDermott Cue New England Women’s Tour Stop

The McDermott Cue New England Women's Tour held a WPBA Qualifier September 30, 2007 at The Silver Cue Billiard Club in Woburn, Massachusetts. The tour would like to thank local pool enthusiast Frank Flick who donated $100 to the prize fund and tour director Marc Dionne who donated $20.

Liz Bernier made her way to the hot seat by defeating the winner of the last qualifier Stacie Bourbeau, WPBA professional Candi Rego, and long time tour members Katie Fiorilla and Wendy Snow. The quarter final match was Kathleen Lawless, who drove six hours from Pennsylvania to compete in the event and Erica Testa, who was preparing to leave to compete in the WPBA event in Oklahoma this week. Lawless sent Testa to the one-loss side in the first round and had just defeated Bourbeau 7-2. Testa, dubbed "The Scrapper”, took the longer route through the one-loss side. Testa played Fiorilla in the previous round and initially trailed the match 0-4. But Testa kept scrapping and won six games in a row to get to the hill. Fiorilla ran one more from Testa's dry break in game eleven but Testa finished the match 7-5. Testa continued winning and defeated Lawless 7-1.

Testa went on to play Wendy Snow in the semi-final but ran out of steam. Snow defeated Testa 7-5 and went back to the winner's side to play Bernier in the final. Bernier won the first two games. Snow made a nice 3-9 combo to take game three. Snow also won game seven, but it was the last she would win. Bernier, who had been playing strongly all day, won the match 7-2.

Bernier will be playing in a WPBA event in 2008. Play well Liz!
