Laura Lindauer Last Woman Standing at Ladies Spirit Tour 2007 Season Grand Finale

Capone's Billiards in Spring Hill, Florida was the site for the Ladies Spirit Tour 2007 season grand finale the weekend of November 3rd and 4th. A total of forty fierce competitors made their way to the event with a few WPBA players in tow - Tracie Hines, Monica Webb, Helena Thornfeldt.

First and foremost, the tour would like to thank their sponsors/contributors for their continued support: Olhausen, McDermott Handcrafted Cues, Tiger Products, Iwan Simonis, Aramis, Billiard Sanctuary, Sterling Gaming, Tweeten Fiber Company, AZBilliards.com, The Cue Cube Corporation, Sir Joseph, Slayer Technologies, Strok-in Style, Pool & Billiard, Billiards Digest, and Stroke-It Wear.

For this event, there were also many additional contributors that made the event quite special. Owner of Capone's and tournament host Rocky McElroy not only posted the $500 WPBA qualifier spot (for the second event of the 2008 WPBA season), but also $1000 in added money. In addition, Simonis added $2000, Gameland of Florida added $500, Oakwood Builders added $100, and a variety of loyal fans and supporters pulled together another $500 added money. The entry fees totaled $2150, which ultimately made the total purse $6250 for this event and allowed Tournament Coordinators Heather Barkley and Roberta Case the opportunity to pay 100% of the field.

On Saturday, first round upsets were underway as Helena Thornfeldt started the day out with a win over Emily Wilmoth 7-1. Following this match, Thornfeldt went on to send Monica Webb 7-2 and Tracie Hines 7-6 to the one-loss side to battle their way through to the finals. Shortly thereafter, tour regular Tammy Gillis provided the biggest upset of the day by making a stand of her own - she gave Thornfeldt a taste of her own medicine with a 7-5 beat.

Sunday started out in an unusual way – one of the top professional players had already been knocked out of the tournament and the other two players were left to fend for themselves on the one-loss side. The initial winners side match-ups included Laura Lindauer v. Tammy Gillis; and Georgia's Autumn Duncan v. touring regular and 2007 top tour points winner Debbie Schjodt. Schjodt has officially sealed the first place finish for the 2007 season and will automatically receive invites from the WPBA for the 2008 season.

On the one-loss side, Stephanie Mitchell started the day playing Amanda Westerman-Miles, while Shanna Lewis and Jeannie Seaver met up; Monica Webb took on Crystal McCormick; and Jessica Barnes ran into Helena Thornfeldt.

As the day drew to a close, we saw Helena Thornfeldt end Monica Webb's quest for the finals, leaving her the sole professional player left in the arena. Jeannie Seaver also continued to trek through the one-loss side ultimately sending home Helena Thornfeldt and Debbie Schjodt to seal her spot in the finals against awaiting hot seat winner Laura Lindauer.

The final round proved to be quite eventful as both Seaver and Lindauer were ferocious competitors throughout, but it would be Lindauer that would take the grand finale event with a final score of 7-6.
