Matt Clatterbuck Dominates at Friendly Cue Billiards Classic

On Saturday, November 10, 2007, Friendly Cue Billiards in Lynchburg, Virginia, held a one-day nine-ball event that drew in a sprightly bunch of regional players – a total of twenty-four in all. Unlike the usual nine-ball tournament set-ups, this competition offered something for all levels of play. The event consisted of a three-flight system - A, B, and C with a seeded field. In addition, the races were to seven on the winner's side and race to five on the one-loss side – true double-elimination format.

In the end, the tournament was all about Matt Clatterbuck. Clatterbuck was able to easily dominate the field with an undefeated run through the winner's side making his way into the final round with Brian Bryant, who had effectively completed the same task on the one-loss side. Clatterbuck showed his determination during the final round with Bryant as he would not allow Bryant to get past him either. During the first round of the true double elimination final, Clatterbuck ended Bryant's journey with a final score of 7-3 and took home the $1000 guaranteed first place finish.
