Derick Lapenne won the Silvercue Billiards 10-Ball tournament on December 7th as 17 players from throughout New England participated in this stop for the New England 9-Ball Series. Notable participants included Lapenne, Dave Lemay, Dan Simoneau, Eli Davenport, Rick Gatta and Jose Pinto.
The battle for the hot seat took place between Derick Lapenne and Steve Manganello. Manganello made a nice charge in this match to tie it at 3 games apiece but Lapenne went on a late run to claim the set and hot seat 5-3.
The final match on the one-loss side pitted Jose Pinto against Steve Manganello. THis match stayed close and was tied at 4 before Pinto caught his gear and won the last two racks to take it 6-4.
Pinto started out strong in the finals and it appeared that he would force the finals into a two-set affair. But a missed ten ball doomed him as Lapenne won four games in a row to win the set and the title.
