The Steve Mizerak Championship Underway

Mike Davis

The Seminole Tribe of Florida proudly hosts the jewel of their tournament series, the Steve Mizerak Championship. This $40,000 added tournament has brought out all the top players in the U.S. including Shane Van Boening, Corey Deuel, Rodney Morris, Earl Strickland, John Schmidt, Johnny Archer, Robb Saez, Mike Dechaine and many others.

World caliber match play is on display in the beautiful Hard Rock Live stadium venue. The 67 players in the tournament are playing on some beautiful Brunswick tournament edition tables, which are easily viewed from the raised arena seating. According to many of the players in attendance, the setting is the classiest provided on American soil.

Along with the beautiful setting has come some splendid play. Several hill-hill matches with top players have taken place already and both the A and B sides of the brackets are stacked with serious competition. Tomorrow's winner's side matches include, Shane Van Boening vs. Mike Davis, Shawn Putnam vs. Donny Mills, Rafael Martinez vs. Keith Bennett, and John Schmidt vs. Richard Broumpton.

South Florida's venue is proving that no players are safe. Many of the top competitors have found themselves fighting for their tournament lives on the loser's side of the bracket. Amongst these players are Charlie Bryant, Larry Nevel, John Morra, Charlie Williams, Stevie Moore, Mike Dechaine, Thorsten Hohmann, and Robb Saez. The second day of competition promises to be a heated and suspense pact gauntlet. There is no telling which of these players will catch a gear, and manage to survive this arduous trek through the 1 loss side.

Friday morning's play will begin promptly at 10:00 am. All those wanting to attend the event feel free to come and sweat all the action live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Live streaming of the event can also be viewed at the TAR website www.theactionreport.com. Special thanks to the Seminole Tribe of Florida for hosting and providing such a wonderful venue for this grand tournament. Stay tuned for updates as the tournament progresses.
