Paul Rozonewski goes wire to wire on Dominiak Cues Tour

Tom Acciavatti and Paul Rozonewski

On Sunday March 14 the Dominiak Cues Northeast 10 Ball Tour visited Albany, NY. The event was graciously hosted by The Golden Cue, one of the northeast's oldest poolrooms.

The tour saw 26 players come through the door ready to chalk it up and challenge for the title of our last regular season tour stop. The top half of the winners side brackets would see steady play from local Tom Acciavatti making his way to the hot seat match with wins over Brandon Ryan, Chis Whalen and Keith Lauer after catching a bye in the opening round. The bottom half of the winners side would see sharpshooter Paul Rozonewski also making his way to the hotseat match with wins over Josh Lerner, Paul Picard, Bob Cunningham and then Frank Rich to meet up with Tom for the hotseat match. Paul would pull this match out in a closely contested battle and move on into the finals. Tom would now take his place on the B side and wait for an opponent to come through and try to get another shot at Paul.

There was many battles going on in the 1 loss side with many many matches going hill/hill. In the end it was Keith Lauer overtaking Frank Rich in a close one to now take on Tom Acciavatti. This match went all Tom's way and he made his way back to get another shot at Paul Rozonewski. Congrats to Keith Lauer for a strong 3rd place finish!

Around 7pm the 1 race to 5 finals kicked off with anticipation of a great match between 2 great players. The match indeed started off that way with both players not giving up anything, at the point of the score being 2-2 Paul got an opning to run that rack out and take a slight lead 3-2. The next rack would see an unforunate scratch by Tom after a 2 rail kick from a safety. Paul would take that game by running out and take the lead 4-2. Although Tom put in a great effort it was not to be today, Paul Rozonewski takes the final rack and the title to stop #13 on the Dominiak Cues Tour. Congrats to both players on an excellent played tournament.

Our Tour finale will be hosted by Snooker's Billiards in Springfield, MA on March 28th. This is not an open event, only the top 64 point getters on tour this season are eligible. $40 entry + $10 table time. Tour awards ceremony before the players meeting at 11:45.
