Saunders and Crosby Take down the Island

Island Breakers in Merritt Island, Fl was the latest room to host the KF Cue Tour event. Saturday's $1000 Added event would see 58 players show up for a piece of the $2580 pot on offer. This room was voted top 10 in the country by Billiards Digest and after having our first event there you can see why.

Saturdays Amateur event would see Prescott Buckwold make his presence known by making his way to the winner's side final with wins over Rick Gatta 7-2, Justin Stock 7-1, Charlie Tudor 7-2, David Uwate 7-2 and a 7-4 win over Roy Novak to make it to the hotseat match to play George Saunders. Saunders made his way to the hotseat with wins over Michell Monk 7-0, Azmi Nabham 7-5, Rick Hefelfinger 7-3, Clifford Luce 7-5 and then a 7-5 win over Todd Anderson to make his way to the winners final. The winners side final was a tight affair with both players trading racks but Buckwold would come out on top with a 7-5 win.

The one loss side was full of great players trying to make their way back, but one man on a mission was Glen Miller, Miller had taken a 2nd round loss to Todd Anderson 7-2 and then went on a rampage with wins over Mike Webb 5-0, Richard Knight 5-3, Lincoln Seiffert 5-3, Chip Dickerson 5-4, Clifford Luce 5-3, Brian McBride 5-2, Roy Novak 5-3 before running into Todd Anderson for the 2nd time on the day and taking a 5-4 loss to leave him with a 4th place finish. Anderson would now have the chance to avenge his loss to Saunders and make it to his 2nd final in two weeks. This was another great match on the day and would go right down to the wire, at 4-4 Saunders was looking like running the rack out as he navigated his way to the 7 ball only to miss it and hide it at the same time, Anderson played a great kick making the 7 ball only for the cue ball to find the side pocket and hand Saunders the win. The final was another tight affair with Saunders coming out on top with an 8-6 win to take his 2nd title of the season.

Tour Director Tony Crosby proved to be the man on the day to beat as he made his way through to the hotseat match with wins over Dan Daugherty 7-1, Roy Novak 7-6, Mark Coats 7-6, Richard Knight 7-1, Dave Ross 7-1, and then a hotseat win over Carlos Torres 7-4. After taking a 7-1 loss to Tony Crosby Dave Ross would make his way back to the finals with wins over Eddie Wheat 6-3 and then due to the time we had to shorten the race to 5 which didn't affect Ross as he would record Further wins over Julio Aquino 5-3 and then a 5-1 win over Carlos Torres to make his way back to meet Crosby in the final. The Final would be a single race to 7 and would also go right down to the wire with Ross making it to 6 and if not for a miss on the 8 ball would have taken his first KF Title, Crosby would take this rack and the case game for a 7-6 win.
