Stanley double dips Ochoa to win Fast Eddie’s stop in Austin

Rick Stanley fought his way back from the one-loss side to meet and defeat Sylver Ochoa in the double elimination finals of the Fast Eddie's Olhausen 9-Ball Tour on the weekend of July 17-18. A total of 72 entrants were on hand to participate in the $1,500-added event, hosted by Fast Eddie's in Austin, TX.

From among the winners' side final four, it was Ochoa who got into the hot seat with a 9-5 win over David Henson, and a 9-6 win over Tommy Tokoph.  Tokoph had just sent Stanley west 9-7. Ochoa waited for what turned out to be Stanley's return from the west bracket.

Stanley's trip back to the finals began with James Davis, Jr., who'd defeated Doug Young and Corey Dordek, both 7-5, to reach him. Henson drew Brian Sanders, who'd gotten by Al Mason and David Parker, also both 7-5. Stanley survived a double hill battle against Davis to get into the quarterfinals, as Henson used yet another 7-5 score versus Sanders to join him. Stanley got into the semifinals against Tokoph with a 7-4 win over Henson, and then dropped Tokoph into third place with another 7-5 score.

Stanley took the opening set of the true double elimination final 9-5, and then won the shortened, second set 7-3 to take home the first place prize.
