Bourbeau goes undefeated to take JPNEWT stop

Six of the fourteen matches played among the Final 12 on the J. Pechauer Northeast Women's Tour stop on the weekend of September 25-26 went double hill. Between them, the ultimately undefeated winner – Stacey Bourbeau – and the runner-up – Megan Smith – were involved in four of the six, including two against each other. The $1,000-added event drew 22 entrants to Castle Billiards Lounge in East Rutherford, NJ.

From among the winners' side final four, Bourbeau and Smith first battled to double hill for the right to advance to the hot seat match. Bourbeau prevailed to face Gina Lipsky, who'd defeated Fran Crimi 7-1. Bourbeau gained the hot seat with a 7-2 win over Lipsky and waited for Smith's return.

On the one-loss side, Smith's journey back to the finals began with Rhio-Anne Flores, who'd defeated Brianna Miller 7-3 and Shanna Lewis, double hill, to reach her. Crimi drew Neslihan Gurel, whom she'd sent to the one-loss side earlier. Gurel defeated tour director Linda Shea and Emily Duddy, both 7-2, to earn the re-match. Gurel advanced to the quarterfinals when that re-match proved successful 7-2 and faced Smith, who survived her double hill match versus Flores.

Smith survived a second straight double hill battle with a win over Gurel and then dropped Lipsky into third place 7-2 in the semifinals. Smith and Bourbeau then locked up in their personal second straight double hill match, which ended up completing Bourbeau's undefeated run through the field of 22.
