Players Championship Added to US Mosconi Cup Point List

Next month's Players Championship has been including in the list of American Mosconi Cup ranking events.

The competition, which will be held at the Valley Forge Convention Center, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, runs from Thursday, March 10 to Sunday, March 13.

Due to an increase in added money, the Players Championship now meets Matchroom's criteria and is added to the list of Mosconi Cup qualifying tournaments. This means results from the Players Championship could help push a player closer to representing his country in December's Mosconi Cup.

The American Mosconi Cup Ranking will now consist of 12 events - eight taking place within the USA and four 'World' events.

Only players finishing in the last 32 of each event will be allocated points and at the conclusion, after the 2011 US Open, the top three players will automatically gain entry to the Mosconi Cup side.

The remaining two players will be Matchroom Sport wildcard picks although the ranking will play a part in this.

The Mosconi Cup will be held in USA from December 8 to 11 and America will be determined to win back the trophy they lost to Europe last year.
