Will Kohl wins All American Tour Stop

Will Kohl and Will Thompson

The thirty-fourth stop on the 2010-2011 Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) was showcased in Dubuque, Iowa, on Saturday, February 26, at Bulldog Billiards.  The $500 added event featured thirty-nine players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes. Will Kohl (DeWitt, IA), rated a “4” on a regional handicap system used, captured the A-side, including wins over Darryl Ostwinkle [4] (Dubuque, IA) in the semifinals 4-0 and Will Thompson [4] (Ottawa, IL) in the finals 4-3. Thompson had earlier dispatched Eric Behnke [4] (Farley, IA) 4-3 in the semifinals just prior to his loss to Kohl.

On the B-side Ron Pluym [5] and Craig Hintgen [5] – both of Dubuque, IA – were eliminated at 7th place at the hands of Bob McDonald [5] (Dubuque, IA) 5-4 and Kent Zirtzman [4] (Cedar Rapids, IL) 4-3 respectively.  McDonald and Zirtzman continued their winning ways in the next round, dispatching Darryl Ostwinkle 4-0 and Eric Behnke 4-0 respectively at 5th place.  Zirtzman then marked Bob McDonald at 4th place by a 4-3 margin, but in turn Zirtzman lost in the B-side finals to Will Thompson 4-3.  The tourney finals only required one set, as undefeated Will Kohl came through by a 4-3 score over Will Thompson for the title!

By virtue of Bob McDonald being the highest-finishing ACS member in the event, he qualified for a free 8-Ball singles entry into the 2011 Lucasi Hybrid ACS Nationals at the Tropicana Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS.  The ACS wishes to thank sponsors Lucasi Hybrid Cues, Championship Billiard Fabric and Nick Varner Signature Cases for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour. All entries in the Tour are also entered into a drawing in an end-of-Tour drawing for four (4) $400+ value Lucasi Hybrid Cues courtesy of Ozone Billiards.  Sponsorship opportunities and tour stop openings are still available for the 2010/2011 All American Tour by contacting the ACS.
