Hatch over Delvillano for Joss Tour Win

It had been a couple years since Seth Delvillano had competed on the Joss NE 9-Ball Tour. Dennis Hatch took no time at all in explaining the new pecking order on the tour to Delvillano at the March 26-27 tour stop at Salt City Billiards in Syracuse, NY.

Both Delvillano and Hatch went undefeated for the weekend until they met up to compete for the hot-seat on Sunday. Hatch quickly won that match 9-3.

Delvillano found Dave Grau waiting on the one loss side and Grau was a little more accommodating to Delvillano as Delvillano won that match 9-5 to earn another shot at Hatch in the true double elimination finals.

Delvillano showed that he wasn't all that impressed with Hatch's new standing as the favorite at any Joss Tour stop he enters. The two players kept it close early and were tied at 2-2 before Hatch took control and held a 7-4 lead. Delvillano fought back and tied the score at 7-7, but dropped the next game as Hatch got to the hill at 8-7. The next rack would center around a safety battle and Hatch won that battle as well as the game, match and tournament 9-7.

Hatch earned $1000, while Delvillano pocketed $700 for second.

The second chance tournament on Sunday saw thirteen players toss their entries into the pot to compete for the $760 in prize money.

This event would see Brian Lipes go through the field undefeated and end the tournament in style with a 3-0 win over Joe Wysocki in the finals.

Lipes won $300, while Wysocki settled for $200 in prize money.

The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour will be at Raxx Billiards in West Hempstead, NY next weekend for their next event.

Tour director Mike Zuglan is still taking entries for the Turning Stone Classic XVII, which takes place September 8 - 11 at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY.
