Conte, Jr. double dips Cotter to take Dishaw Cues CNY stop

Vic Conte, Jr. came back from a double hill defeat to chalk up a double dip victory over John Cotter in the finals of the Dishaw Cues CNY Tour stop on Saturday, June 25th. The $300-added event drew 20 entrants to Premium Billiards in Syracuse, NY.

They met first in the hot seat match, after Conte had shut out Bobby Schroeter and Cotter had defeated Brian Lipes 7-5, from among the winners' side final four. Cotter prevailed 7-6 in the battle for the hot seat and waited for Conte to get back from the semifinals.

First up for Schroeder on the one-loss side was J.B. Brotherton, who'd gotten by Mike Donnelly, double hill, and Terry Bulman 7-4 to reach him. Lipes drew Travis Salvetti, who'd defeated Joe Giancarelli 7-4 and Gary Lloyd in a double hill contest. Lipes advanced to the quarterfinals with a double hill win over Salvetti, as Brotherton ended Schroeter's day 7-2.

Lipes won his second straight double hill contest in the quarterfinal match versus Brotherton, and advanced to take on Conte. Conte prevailed in the semifinals 8-5 for a second crack at Cotter.

Conte took the opening set of the true double elimination finals 8-5. He went one better in defeating Cotter the second time 8-4 to capture the event title.
