Gabriel goes undefeated to take Midwest 9-Ball Tour One-Pocket event

John Gabriel chalked up three straight, 3-1 victories, including the hot seat match and finals to take first place in the One-Pocket event of the Midwest 9-Ball Tour stop on the weekend of July 7-10. The $1,000-added One-Pocket event drew 63 entrants to Shooter's in Olathe, KS.

From among the winners' side final four, Gabriel sent Chip Compton west with the first of his three, 3-1 victories. Will Freeman, in the meantime, was sending Gabriel's eventual finals opponent, Glenn Atwell, to the one-loss side by the same score. Gabriel gained the hot seat 3-1, and waited for Atwell's return.

Atwell moved over to pick up Scott Kitto, who'd survived a double hill battle against Beau Runningen and shut out Joey Gray. Compton drew Shane McMinn, who'd defeated Nicky Brandt and Mike Banks, Jr., both double hill. In a very familiar matchup on the Midwest 9-Ball Tour, Compton shut out McMinn. Atwell joined Compton in the quarterfinals, after a 3-1 victory over Kitto.

Atwell went on to shutout Compton, and earned his slot in the finals with a 3-1, semifinal victory over Freeman. Gabriel, though, completed his undefeated march through the one-pocket field with a 3-1 victory in the single race finals.
