Stacy Allsup wins her second AWBT event

Final eight players

Stacy Allsup defeated Kristin Haney 9-8 to win Stop #4 at Bullshooters in Phoenix. This was Stacy's second tour win and along with fellow Las Vegan, Rebecca Wagner, they have won all four AWBT events this season. For Kristin Haney, of Prescott Valley, this second place finish, along with a fourth in April, proves she is still a woman to be reckoned with in the Arizona pool scene.

Play began Saturday with 26 ladies from the southwest and Wisconsin. After the computer draw, one bracket in particular, was loaded with AWBT point leaders. Susan Williams had a first round win over Susan "Madhatter" Mello 7-2, but in the next round she lost to point leader, Rebecca Wagner, 7-5. Then Rebecca lost 7-5 to Kristin Haney who had just beaten Sara Miller. Just like that, four of the tournament favorites were in the loser's bracket. Only Wagner and Mello would make it out to play on Sunday.

In the winner's semis on Sunday, Stacy Allsup defeated her road partner Amy Encinias and Susan Wilbur beat Kristin Haney. Stacy put herself in the hot seat with a 7-4 win over Wilbur.

On the loser's side, Jeri Engh had her best finish this year (5th) with her win over LA's Barbara Lee 7-4. Susan Mello put an end to Rebecca Wagner's quest for her third title in a row by beating her 7-4. Kristin Haney ended Engh's tournament 7-2 and then had a tough win over Mello 7-5. Haney then avenged her earlier loss to Wilbur by 7-1 to climb back into the finals.

The final was a very intense and deliberate affair. Neither player could gain more than a 2 game lead so it was no surprise that it came to hill-hill. In the final game both players would have their chances at the table and the title, but Stacy was the one to make the final 9 ball. Congratulations Stacy Allsup on a great win.

In the 2nd Chance Tournament Nina Tagley wanted to redeem herself from Saturday's play. Redeem it she did as she defeated Susan Williams in the final to take down the $100 first prize. We had 12 Second Chancer's. Remember…the 2nd Chance is open to all women, even if you don't play in the main event. It is $5.00 entry for those who did not play in main event.

Thanks again to Mike and Julie Bates and their staff for having us. Not only did they add $300 to the main event but also kicked in an additional $100 to the 2nd Chance event.

Bullshooters has truly been a great supporter of Women's pool.

Thanks to our secret donor who added $100 to the main event prize fund. We encourage this type of behavior and hope others will follow.

Thanks to my partner Kristie Ortega and Scott Waterhouse for all their hard work.

Our next event is October 8th & 9th. 8-ball on 7' Diamond tables. It will be held at Stingers Sports Bar & Grill located at 10040 N. 43rd Avenue in Glendale, AZ. Phone: 623-937-9645.
