Chinakhov finished Souquet at Beassy™ 9-Ball World Class Open

Monday, 03 October 2011: Bruno Muratore (ITA) made it to the single elimination stage of the final 32 players in the Beassy™ 9-ball World Class Open. He defeated Albin Ouschan (AUT) in the loser's qualification round with 9:5.

Muratore had a quick start over Ouschan. He went ahead 6:1 and left no doubt about his desire to make it into the final 32 players' stage. That was the time when Ouschan got into gear a bit better and managed to close the gap a bit, making the score 6:4. In the 11th rack, Muratore played a marvellous safety shot on the 6-ball that also solved the problem with the 7-bal on the table, leaving a snookered situation for Ouschan. The Austrian tried to hit the 6-ball but fouled. Then Muratore came in and should have run the rack. But he missed an easy 8-ball and left it hanging over the pocket. That was the chance for Ouschan to make it 6:5 and he did. Again, the match did not continue as expected. After Ouschan's great comeback, there was nothing more coming from him. Muratore played stronger and finished the match 9:5 over Ouschan.

Earlier today in the loser's bracket, pool's megastar Ralf Souquet (GER) got eliminated from the event by Ruslan Chinakhov (RUS) with 9:7. Four more clashes of top players ended 9:8: Melling (GBR) ousted Petroni (ITA), Buck (GER) eliminated Solymosi (HUN), Stepanov (RUS) finished Sanchez-Ruiz (ESP) and Kojsza (HUN) overcame Stadler (SWE), all with the same tight result. Also on the one-loss side, David Alcaide (ESP) ended all hopes from Nick van den Berg (NED) with 9:5.

The loser's qualification round matches included Chris Melling (GBR) subduing Dominic Jentsch (GER) 9:3. Karl Boyes (GBR) had to deal with fellow countryman Imran Majid. As the match went along, both players did not think about giving in to their opponent. In the end, it was Boyes who remained victorious and won 9:7 over Majid. Local hero, junior player Bence Varga from Hungary, got ousted by Swedish Andreas Gerwen with 9:8.
