Dragon upset in Valley Forge

#2 seed Charlie Williams took an early trip to the one-loss side

Round one is complete at the Brunswick Mens Professional Players Championship, being held at the Valley Forge Convention Center in Valley Forge PA, and #2 seeded Charlie 'The Korean Dragon' Williams is the first top seed to be shown the way to the one-loss side.

Williams dropped a 10-7 match to Bob Maidhof on Thursday evening. Maidhof had a 17th place finish in Valley Forge last year and scored hill-hill wins over Niels Feijen and Tony Crosby. Maidhof will face Chris Szuter on Friday. Williams will face Tony Rodriguez on the one-loss side.

The evening rounds at Valley Forge saw many close finishes with three matches going to hill-hill before they were finally decided. Corey Deuel avenged a loss at last year's event to Mike Davis and defeated Davis 10-9 on Thurdsay. Also scoring 10-9 wins, were Mosconi Cup teammates Jeremy Jones and Tony Robles. Jones' victory was over Mosconi Cup opponent Mika Immonen, while Robles' defeated Ryan McCreesh. Jones will face Ed Abraham on Friday, while Robles takes on Neil Fujiwara.

Brackets are online and will updated again early Friday afternoon.
