BCA Hall of Famer Karen Corr, who won the J. Pechauer Northeast Women's Tour's New York State Championships in September, won her second straight stop on the tour with an undefeated October 13-14 weekend. She'd previously won the NY State Championships in September. Not, however, before she'd been challenged in a double hill final by Tour Director Linda Shea, who'd faced her in the hot seat, as well. The $500-added event drew 16 entrants to the Top Hat Billiard Club in Parkville, MD.

From among the winners' side final four, Corr faced Julie Kelly, as Shea squared off against Tricia Tennant, who had sent both of the eventual quarterfinalists to the loss side (Eugenia Gyftopoulos and Kia Sidbury). Corr and Shea got into the hot seat match with identical 7-1 victories over Kelly and Tennant. Corr prevailed 7-4 in the first of two against Shea and sat in the hot seat, awaiting her return.

Kelly moved west to pick up Sidbury, who'd defeated Sharon O'Hanlon 7-3 and Ji-Hyun Park 7-5 to reach her. Tennant, in the meantime, ran right into a re-match versus Gyftopoulos, who'd gotten by Lenore Donovan 7-1 and Courtney Hall 7-3. The two "Tennant" victims (Gyftopoulos and Sidbury) defeated their opponents (Tennant and Kelly) 7-5 and squared off against each other in the quarterfinals. A double hill match ensued, won by Gyftopoulos, who turned to face Shea in the semifinals.

Shea made short work of Gyftopoulos 7-2 and got a second crack at Corr. Though Shea put up a double hill fight in the finals, Corr prevailed to capture her second straight JPNEWT title.
