7:5 was the end result in favour of Henrik Larsson (SWE) when he finished his match with Tankred Volkmer (GER).

Larsson, who came in second last year, was definitely considered to be the clearly favoured player  for this match. But Volkmer seemed to like his role being the underdog. Maybe that was one of the reasons why the match did not turn out as clearly as expected. To the opposite, Volkmer kept the distance to Larsson always very small. After four racks, the score was 2:2. Larsson took his time-out and tried to get back on track. But he could not get a big advantage over Volkmer. The German even took a 4:3 lead in the meantime. That could have been the wakeup call for Larsson. The Swede won the next three racks and went on the hill, creating some huge pressure for Volkmer. At a score of 4:6 against him, Volkmer was able to snatch one more rack off Larsson. Then Larsson ended all of Volkmer’s hopes to win this match. He took another rack and won the match 7:5. With this victory, Larsson remains on the winner’s side while Volkmer needs to fight his way through the loser’s bracket now.

The defending Champion  Jouni Tahti (FIN) also won his second match of the day, beating Matej Brajkovic (SLO) 7:1.

In the girls division, defending Champion Oliwia Czuprynska (POL)  won 7:5 over Ana Gradisnik (SLO). Kamila Khodjaeva (BEL) wrestled Brianna Miller (USA) down with 7:4.
