Frank Durham and Champion Billiards Café in Rockville, MD, hosted the 3rd stop of the NorthEastern Women’s Tour. Twenty-nine ladies turned out to play and compete for the Player’s Choice WPBA Qualifying spot and $650 added to the prize fund. This was a new stop for the ladies. Champion Billiards has 4 rooms in Maryland and the NEWT had previously been to the room in Laurel. Pechauer Cues sent Champion Billiards Café and Pechauer model 14 for hosting a NEWT tour stop.

On Sunday the final 8 returned to resume competition. On the winner’s side awaiting her opponent in the finals was Jennifer Baretta. Jennifer posted wins over Karen Armstrong, Nicole Monaco, Julie Kelly, Donna Tidwell, and Colleen Miller to gain the hot seat. Her opponent in the finals was Colleen Miller, a local player and the room favorite. Colleen posted wins over Betty Dougherty, Kathy Friend, Holly Ryan, and Colleen Shoop before being narrowly defeated by Jennifer, 7-5, to emerge from the 1-loss side for a rematch. In a singular race to 9, Colleen and Jennifer see-sawed back and forth with a one game lead. With the score tied at 6-6, Colleen broke through for good and forged ahead to win 9-6.
