Biography

Born in Fulda, Germany, Thorsten Hohmann is a three-time world champion, winning the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) World 9-Ball Championship as a 24-year-old in 2003 and again in 2013, and winning the WPA World Straight Pool Title in 2006. Hohmann’s biggest money win was the 2006 International Pool Tour North American Open 8-Ball Championship, beating Filipino Marlon Manalo in the final to earn the $350,000 top prize. Following his initial World 9-Ball win, Hohmann moved to the U.S. in 2004 and immediately reached the final of the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship, losing to Gabe Owen in the title match. In 2005, Hohmann captured the BCA Open 9-Ball title, the televised Sudden Death 7-Ball title and the Matchroom-sponsored World Pool League. Hohmann has claimed numerous Asian pool titles, including the 2009 China Open and the 2014 Manny Pacquiao Cup. One of the world’s top straight pool players, Hohmann has won the World Tournament of 14.1 four times (2011, 2013, 2015 and 2018), the 2013 Maryland 14.1 Challenge, the 2008 Lucasi 14.1 Championship and the Accu-Stats 14.1 Invitational.
