Pool World Mourns Loss of Helena Thornfeldt

The pool world is in mourning over the loss this week of Helena Thornfeldt. Helena hailed from Borlange Sweden, but had been living in Villa Rica, Georgia for the last few years. 
 
Helena, known as The Sledgehammer for her “sledgehammer break”, was a WPBA US Open winner, as well as runner-up at the 1996 Women’s World 9-Ball Championship. She was a regular competitor on the WPBA tour during the late 90’s and early 2000’s. 
 
She was inducted into the WPBA Hall of Fame in 2017 and had just recently finished in 9th place at the 2019 WPBA Masters. 
 
Helena had recently opened a pizza restaurant in Villa Rica. No additional details are available regarding her death. Helena was 52 years of age.
