World Pool League Back In Poland

MATCHROOM SPORT are pleased to announce that the 2001 World Pool League will take place at the SGGW, 26/30 Rakowiecka Street, Warsaw from 16th to 18th November. With a record prize-fund of US$50,000 and a field expanded to include an additional two players, the 2001 World Pool League promises to be the most exciting running yet of this highly-popular event.

As in previous years, the event will be televised live on Wizja Sport in Poland as well as syndicated by promoters Matchroom Sport around the world as 15 x two hour programmes.

The new expanded format of the World Pool League will mean that instead of one group of six players, there will be two groups of four and Matchroom Sport have endeavoured to bring the highest quality line-up of stars from around the world to Warsaw.

They include; the current World Champion, the World Games Champion, the 2001 European Champion, the Polish Champion, the reigning World Pool League Champion, the 2000 World Player of the Year, the former six-times World Snooker Champion and the reigning World Masters Champion.

Commented Matchroom Sport Chairman Barry Hearn, " We are delighted to be bringing this championship back to Warsaw for the fourth time. It will be a new venue for us but in previous years the crowds in Poland have been fantastic. I don't think you could find a stronger line-up of players and I expect the standard of pool to be outstanding."

As in previous years, tickets for the five sessions of the World Pool League are FREE.

Tables for the World Championship are provided by Brunswick, cloth by Simonis, balls by Saluc and racks by Lou Sardo Products.

The World Pool League is sanctioned by the WPA.

Each match is played over 10 racks. All racks to be played with alternate breaks.
