Sarge's Trick Shots

The Wonder Shot

Ken 'Sarge' Aylesworth

This month's trick shot is a classic that Jimmy Caras performed in many of his exhibitions. This shot is called the "Wonder Shot"".

If you don't know Jimmy Caras's nickname that the press gave him, it was "Boy Wonder of the Billiards World", bestowed upon him after he beat world's champion, Ralph Greenleaf, in an exhibition match at age 16!! Now let's look at the trick shot.

Hit the cue ball with high left English with a medium stroke. Aim and shoot for the second diamond and the cue ball will hit two rails and strike the side of the yellow ball.

The yellow ball is frozen against two object balls as shown. The yellow ball will then follow the dotted line into the corner pocket. You may have to try this shot a few times to find the correct angle off the first rail.

Unless otherwise specified, "Sarge" will be covering the complete basics of pocket billiards at these seminars. If you would like to learn the basics, please attend. This is highly recommended for the league players as well as beginning players. "Sarge" will also be handing out packages of outlines, drills, and exercises for each student.
