SEAL Tour Benefit Raises $4,500 for My House!

Side Pocket Cue Club in Marietta, Georgia, the 6th of seven stops on this season’s SEAL Tour, was the site host once again for SEAL’s annual charity benefit, held on Friday, March 8, 2002, before weekend play.  This year’s selected charity was an Atlanta organization known  as My House.

Featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show for their wonderful cause, My House provides a warm home and tender loving care for homeless newborns and young babies in transition until a more permanent home is found.  Along with the 50 some-odd SEAL members, six professional pool players graciously volunteered their time and talents and were on hand to accept challenges and play in the speed pool competition.

Allison Fisher, Johnny Archer, Tommy Kennedy, Helena Thornfelt, Monica Webb, Mark Jones, and trick shot artist Okinawa Slim all participated in the most successful event to date, with SEAL members and guests raising over $4,500 in cash and gifts!  The evening also included a full buffet cooked up by the players, with a special contribution from Popeye’s Chicken, as well as raffles, prizes, karaoke, autographed pictures, and much more.  SEAL members felt very proud to be a part of such a worthwhile cause.

The SEAL Tour would like to extend special thanks to all those mentioned above, as well as to Mike Carter for emceeing the evening’s festivities, Eric Nickerson for providing the karaoke, Sandy Sumner and Waffle House for their raffle prize donations, Michelle Vaughn, Anita Cravens, Tori Duncan, Tricia Barbisch, and Kim Young for their organizational efforts, and all the SEAL members and friends for their generous support and participation.

Also, through the efforts of Nate Bryant (a.k.a. Okinawa Slim), mention was made of the benefit on GPTV Channel 8 the previous Saturday as well as on WCLK Radio 91.9 FM, and the event was attended by Gerald Williams, president of Fokus Entertainment.
Extra special thanks go to Bob, Terry, and Jennifer Bobbitt and all the staff at Side Pocket for their continued loyal support of the SEAL Tour and its annual charity event!
