Morro wins 5th Annual Jay Swanson Memorial.

College Billiards was packed with 118 players and San Diego's faithful spectators. The annual Jay Swanson Memorial Tournament is fast becoming one of the premier west coast events. The dueling cueists traveled from over 6 states to fight for the $9,400 prize fund.
Ismael (Morro) Paez, the 1999 champ became the first repeat winner of this event. Runner up John Schmidt captured second in his first appearance. Dave Hemmah (1996 champ) took 3rd with Tang Hoa (2000 defending champ) settling for fourth place.

Between 75 to 100 spectators returned sunday to watch the non-stop action of the top 32. The talent loaded field did not disappoint. Several matches were hill-hill slug fests.
