Angel Paglia was a round one winner
Play got underway Thursday at the WPBA San Diego Classic and there were a fair amount of semi-upsets in round one already.
New WPBA Tour Card holder Emily Duddy did her best to show that she belonged on tour by starting out her 2010 campaign with a hill-hill win over Liz Ford. Kim Pierce also beat Young Gun Brittany Bryant 9-5. Caroline Pao looked good early against tour veteran Melissa Little. Pao held a 5-1 lead, but lost the match 9-6. Another early round one winner was Angel Paglia who defeated fellow Arizona player Susan Williams 9-5. New crowned Regional Tour Champion Shu-Han Chang drew Laura Smith in the first round and won that match.
The remaining round one matches will see some interesting pairings; Jasmin Ouschan will take on Jennifer Chen, Melissa Herndon will face Dawn Hopkins, Kim Shaw plays Denise Belanger, Monica Webb faces off against Janet Atwell and Helena Thornfeldt will play Val Finnie.
