2008-2009 Season for Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour Underway This Weekend

The Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour is at it again this weekend (with Tour Director Doug Ennis at the helm) at Fast Eddie's in Goldsboro, North Carolina, to kick off the 2008-2009 season.  Although the complete schedule has not been released, as in the past three years, the tour plans to hold fifteen tournaments in venues across North Carolina (tentative dates have been added at the end for informational purposes).

This weekend, November 7th-9th, the tour will offer a Friday night Early Bird Tournament at 7 p.m., single elimination, nine-ball, races to five.  Then on Saturday at 1 p.m. (registration 12:30 p.m.), a $1000 guaranteed added Main Event will begin – entry $65.  The only change to the format appears to be "rack your own".  A nine-ball on the break will count for a win only if it goes in the side pockets or head pockets (up table).  If it heads towards the foot pockets (down table), it will spot up.

Continuing on Sunday, Juniors (maximum sixteen players) play at 11 a.m. for $10 or if playing in the main event, the entry is waived. Points count again this season to help the junior players make it to the nationals event in the summer.  Also, a new division for the season, women (maximum sixteen players) have a chance to show their stuff too on Sundays at 11 a.m. – entry $10 unless you participate in the main event, in which case it is waived.  Both the women and juniors do not pay for tour cards this year.

If that wasn't enough for you, a Second Chance Tournament is also open to all players at 3 p.m. on Sunday, same format as the Early Bird listed above.

If interested in more information on the event this weekend, contact Doug Ennis of Rock City Promotions, (252) 908-0754.

A couple of items to mention:  Comfort Suites in Goldsboro is offering a discount rate of $60 per night for this event, just mention ''Fast Eddie's pool tournament' and they'll take care of you (919) 759-0098.

And, congratulations again to the 2007-2008 Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour Player of the Year, Michael Fuller.  This is Michael's second turn as Player of the Year, having earned the honor in 2005-2006.  He received free entry into the 2008 U. S. Open 9-Ball Championships where he placed a very respectable 33rd place out of 237 players.  Good job, Michael!
