2013-2014 WPBL Playoffs Begin

Jesse Engel, Ralf Souquet and Thorsten Hohmann
The World Professional Billiard League’s playoffs begin on February 5, 2014 and will run through February 15, 2014. All teams will participate at the WPBL Arena in Las Vegas, NV and will compete for their share of the $120,000 prize fund.

The league’s 12 teams were seeded into the playoffs based off of their regular season standings. The playoffs kick off with Oscar Dominguez’ #5 Los Angeles Wave taking on Johnny Archer’s #12 Atlanta Scorpions on February 5th at 6:30pm PT.

Stakes are high in this win or go home season finale.  All 36 players are guaranteed prize money, how much depends on their team’s performance.  As a result, many players have arrived over a week early to prepare for their first match including Thorsten Hohmann and Rodney Morris and the entire Toronto Blue Sharks team.

Minnesota Outlaws captain Thorsten Hohmann had this to say about the game of Bonus Ball “I still have to learn a lot about Bonus Ball, so it helps to come in early to watch the other teams. I’m a good shooter when the table is open, but I think I need a lot improvement when it comes to the moving part of the game. Watching folks like Jeremy Jones, Scott Frost or Corey Deuel helps a lot. Also it’s good to get acclimated with the venue and conditions here, mentally and physically.”
