29 Women Shoot for the Cure at Amy’s Billiards

Stuart, FL  (Oct. 6, 2012) – Pink was the color of the day Saturday as the top Florida women 9-ball players cued up for the  Cure at the Flamingo Billiards Tour 4th Annual  "Cues for the Cure" breast cancer fundraiser. A huge "THANK YOU" to all of the players, spectators and sponsors who helped to make the fundraiser a huge success! This year was the largest player turnout for this event, and the FBT outraised last year's donations as well. All proceeds benefit the South Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The 29 women attending this $250-added event at Amy’s Billiards in Stuart, Florida, came from around the state. Jennifer Page took home the tournament trophy this year, winning her first event on the FBT.  Jackie Arsenault and Alicia DeAbrue won cue sticks in the raffle. Rene Vasallo won the hotly contested M&M's jar by guessing the closest number of M&M's - 2,409 pieces (and yes, Robin Boggs counted each and every one of them)! Mary Ellen Clements was the highest finishing ACS member. She wins a free entry to the ACS National Championships Singles in Las Vegas next May. Lots of other gifts and game prizes were won, as the crazy cue ball in the four-ball and three-rail games left some otherwise talented and skilled people a little frustrated!

Many special thanks are due: to all of you who took time to participate, thanks to those who brought a friend, thank you to the players who drove hours to attend this event, thank you for your donations, participating in the games and your contagious enthusiasm in supporting the cause!

Thanks also to Janis Sessions (who raised more than $300), Jackie Arsenault and Jennie Samuel for their special financial contributions, and to Darlyne Petrovit & Uncle Waldo's in Daytona for donating the pink pool gifts for the raffle. Thank you to Rich Johnson for donating his day and doing a super job assisting with running the tournament on this eventful day. Thanks to billiard professional Hunter Lombardo for donating lesson time, and to known one-pocket player Tom Wirth, who also donated lesson time. A special thank you to Robin Boggs for her invaluable assistance and help with organizing the event again this year.

Finally, a huge shout out to Boynton Billiards for their donations and ongoing support of the "Cues for the Cure" fundraiser and the FBT. Thanks to John Lewis and the American CueSports Association /Pure X Tour for their joint sponsorship. Most importantly, a huge pink ribbon thanks to Amy Poulter, owner of Amy's Billiards, for being such a great host again this year for this important event and for her tremendous support of the FBT.
