Hillbilly goes undefeated on Fast Eddie’s stop

Charlie Bryant

Charlie “Hillbilly” Bryant went undefeated through a field of 45 entrants on hand for the Fast Eddie's Olhausen 9-Ball Tour on the weekend of September 18-19.  Alicia Stanley won the concurrent, eight-entrant ladies tournament. The $1000-added main event and ladies tournament was hosted by the Fast Eddie's facility in San Antonio, TX.

From among the winners' side final four, Bryant met up with Brian Sanders, chalking up a 9-6 win that put him into the hot seat match. Joining him was David Henson, who'd sent Shane Harvey west 9-7. Bryant gained the hot seat with a 9-7 win over Henson.

Waiting for Sanders on the one-loss side was Leon Contreras, who'd defeated Eric Aicienea and Drew McCoy, both  7-5, to reach him. Harvey drew Rick Stanley, who'd defeated Sam Manole in a double hill match and Mario Juarez 7-5.  Sanders got by Contreras 7-4 to advance to the quarterfinals. Harvey survived a double hill match against Stanley to join him.

Sanders defeated Harvey 7-5, but ended up in third place when he couldn't stop Henson's quest for a rematch versus Bryant. Henson won the semifinal 7-3 and moved into the opening set of a true double elimination final. Bryant made a second set unnecessary with a decisive 9-2 win that completed his undefeated weekend.
