Archer, Strickland, Robles All in Danger at World Tournament of 14.1

New York, New York -  Several top names face elimination today as they must claw their way out of the round robin stage. 4x World Champion Johnny Archer, 5x US Open Champ Earl Strickland, and local NYC pro Tony Robles are amongst the endangered.   This year's World Tournament of 14.1 has all 48 players battling in the round robin stage inching closer to the oldest title in the world. Dragon Promotions and Dr. Michael Fedak have brought another globally star studded field at this year's 73rd Olhausen World Tournament hosted by Steinway Billiards in New York on August 19th-24th,2013.  Live stream broadcast will be on www.insidepool.tv

Archer has never failed to make it out of the round robin at The World Tournament, but he currently has 1 win and 3 losses. He must win today and then hope others in his group falter to give him a pass to the next round. Strickland has a better record than Archer in his group, but his earlier low scores may cost him a shot at the title.

Other notable names that will face do or die today are Robb Saez, Tony Robles, Earl Herring Ralph Eckert.

Players that look good to go through but another win would help secure are John Schmidt (3 wins and 1 loss), Francisco Bustamante ( 3 wins and 1 loss). Oliver Ortmann needs to win one of his two remaining matches to proceed. Players such as USA's Shane Van Boening and Charlie Williams have the luxury of knowing they are through and they face off today for the right to be ranked #1 in their group and receive a bye the next round.  England's Darren Appleton and Scotland's Jonni Fulcher and Jayson Shaw are also guarantees. Dennis Hatch looks prime to take the overall #1 spot into the next round with undefeated record and has held his opponents to the least amount of balls scored against him.
