Mesa, Arizona (December 23, 2008) - Nick Varner, eight-time world champion and 1992 inductee into the Billiards Congress of America's Hall of Fame, will perform a Trick Shot Exhibition Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Main Street Billiards in Mesa.

The public is invited to view the skill of the legendary “Kentucky Colonel,” currently the only player ever named World Champion in five different pool games, including Straight Pool, 9-Ball and One Pocket. The exhibition will start at 7pm.

Writer Ben Lucien Burman wrote after watching Nick at New York's Players Club, "To watch Nick Varner at a pool table is like watching a portrait being painted by Rembrandt."

In addition, from 7pm to midnight, Main Street Billiards, located at 1749 W. Main Street Mesa, will offer free pool on 25 nine foot tables.

“Nick Varner is a celebrity to those who follow pool, and for those who don't, its just amazing to see the shots he can make,” states Main Street Billiards owner Thor Skogan Jr. “We're offering free pool as a Christmas present to our patrons and to celebrate the opening of the new light rail station across the street. It's been a long time coming and we're excited to see it come to fruition.”
