Bonnie Plowman Wins It All at the OB Cues Ladies 9-Ball Tour in Richardson, TX

Bonnie Plowman

It was a typical Texas summer weekend, June 21-22nd - temperatures were hot, players were aplenty and action and fun was had at the 3rd stop of the OB Cues Ladies 9-Ball Tour at The Billiard Den in Richardson, TX.  Larry & Marci Rothberg, owners & operators of The Billiard Den, welcomed the OB Cues Tour back for their second straight year and all the ladies greatly appreciated their warm welcome.   Saturday morning, 52 players came out to play and amongst the many OB Cues regular tour players, other states represented were New Mexico, Washington, Colorado and Arkansas.  Larry and Marci have a very large and awesome establishment and treated the ladies, fans, friends and spectators with an abundance of Texas hospitality.  Thank You, Larry & Marci!!!

Our main sponsor, OB Cues, joined us the entire weekend – they are based in Plano, Texas which is near The Billiard Den.  Royce Bunnell remarked how much he appreciates being part of our tour family and it is us, the tour players, who can't thank Royce, Don, and all the OB Cues family enough for allowing us the privilege and honor to showcase their products and service.  Thank You, OB Cues!!!

As the tournament progressed throughout the day, we had some notable milestones reached by a few players.  Suzanne Osborne, first time player from Washington placed 4th—congrats Suzanne; Michelle Abernathy, regular tour player, had her highest finish to date, 5th/6th—great job, Michelle; Ophelia Charleston, first time player from New Mexico finished 9th/12th—you go, Ophelia and Cheyna Wigley & Sandy Rodermund, placing 13th/16th & 17th/24th respectively—good showing ladies.  We hope to see you at future OB Cues tour events.

Continuing all the way through to the winner's bracket was the ever present Lisa Marr, from Little Rock, Arkansas, always a fighter to the finish, and securing her spot in the finals.  Lisa had wins over Kim Pierce 7-6; Ophelia Charleston 7-1; Heather Lloyd 7-5; Jillian Valles 7-6; Leslie Anne Rogers 7-4 and Bonnie Plowman 7-4 to make it to the hotseat.

Bonnie Plowman, all the way from Colorado, came into town a few days early to take in the Texas heat by relaxing before the tournament & attending a Texas Rangers baseball game.  Bonnie was so relaxed that on Saturday, she was taking no prisoners as she blazed through the winner's side as well.  But on Sunday after she defeated Michelle Abernathy, she ran into a roadblock named Lisa Marr.  Lisa defeated Bonnie 7-4 that match and then Lisa sat and waited for her opponent in the finals.  After winning her match against Heather Lloyd, 7-4, Bonnie then supplied some heat of her own by performing a double-dip against Lisa 7-6, 7-4 to win the WPBA Carolina Classic qualifier and a cool $750 for 1st place.
