Bowman loses a barbox match in Iowa; wins tournament

The forty-eighth stop on the 2008/2009 Pechauer All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) was hosted at Miller Time Billiards in Davenport, IA, on Saturday, May 2.  The $500 added event drew twenty-three players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes.  Bar box phenom Jesse Bowman (E. Moline, IL) was sterling in his march to the finals.  In the hot-seat match, Bowman (rated a “7” on a regional handicap system used) dominated Ryan Short [4] (Davenport, IA) 7-1.  Earlier in the A-bracket semi-finals, Bowman outmaneuvered Larry Miller [4] (Saybrook, IL) on the hill 7-3, while Short beat Crist Aiardo [4] (Moline, IL) by a 4-2 margin.  In the B-side bracket Crist Aiardo eliminated Don Boll [4] (Dubuque, IA) at 5th place 4-3, while Rory Smith [4] (Muscatine, IA), clipped Larry Miller (Saybrook, IL) at the same placement 4-3.  In the B-side semifinals Aiardo ousted Rory Smith 4-1.  In the B-side finals, Aiardo continued his hot hand to close out Ryan Short's tournament at 3rd place by a comfortable 4-1 score.  The tournament finals was not easy for Jesse Bowman, as Crist Aiardo handed him his first loss in set one, forcing a second set, which Bowman claimed by a 7-2 margin for the title!
By virtue of Crist Aiardo being the highest-finishing ACS member in the event, he qualified for a free 9-Ball singles entry into the 2009 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS.  The ACS wishes to thank sponsors J. Pechauer Custom Cues, Championship Billiard Fabric, Nick Varner Signature Cases and oZone Billiards for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the Pechauer All American Tour.
