Carolina Open – Day Three Updates

Larry Nevel

The one-pocket event at Fast Eddie's Sports Bar and Grill in Goldsboro, North Carolina, has finally come down to the final three players. The hot-seat match played earlier ended with a very determined Earl Strickland overcoming Larry Nevel.

All the while, the one-loss side was just as competitive with Sparky Ferrell defeating Louis Ulrich, and ending their tournament life shortly behind Ulrich were Scott Rabon, Randy Epperson, and Shannon Daulton. The last match of the evening pitted Sparky Ferrell against Richie Richeson. At one time, Ferrell was up two games to nothing in a race to three, but Richeson would not give up and continued to grind out the match until he ended up on top – final score 3-2.

The one-pocket event will continue at 7:00 p.m. this evening – Richie Richeson will match-up against Larry Nevel in the semi-final round, while Earl Strickland waits for his opportunity to close out the tournament at 9:00 p.m.

In addition to the one-pocket finale, the nine-ball event will get underway shortly after the player's meeting at 12 p.m. We should have additional updates late in the day on both of these events for those of you that cannot attend.

Results thus far for the one-pocket event:
4th – Sparky Ferrell
5th/6th – Scott Rabon/Louis Ulrich
7th/8th – Randy Epperson/Shannon Daulton
9th/12th – Gabe Owen/Chuck Altomare/Rafael Martinez/Robb Saez
