Chavez undefeated for Joss Tour Win

The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour was at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ on January 20th and 21st for a $2000 added stop. Early favorites for this event included Santos Sambajon, George San Souci, Gandy Valle, Ignacio Chavez and Karen Corr.

The final four undefeated players on Sunday were Chavez, Sambajon, Valle and Steve Lillis. Sambajon and Lillis fell to Chavez and Valle by identical 9-4 scores. This left Chavez and Valle fighting it out for the hot-seat. That was won by Chavez with a 9-8 victory.

On the one loss side, Sambajon eliminated Joey Kong 9-2 and Lillis fell to Ken Kerner 9-6. Sambajon then eliminated Kerner 9-7.

The match between Sambajon and Valle on the one loss side was at 7-7 when Sambajon snapped back to back 9-balls for a 9-7 win.

The finals match between Chavez and Sambajon started out close at 1-1, but Chavez quickly cruised to a 5-1 lead. Sambajon clawed back to 5-4, but would not win another game as Chavez won the final four racks for the 9-4 win.

The Joss Tour will be at Snooker's Café & Billiards in Providence, RI next weekend for the 18th Ocean State 9-ball Championship.
