Corr wins Capital 9-Ball Championship

Former WPBA #1 ranked Karen Corr went undefeated through a field of 26 other players this weekend to win the 2003 Women's National Capital 9-Ball Championship held by the Chesapeake Area Tour at Bill & Billies CuesPort in Arnold, MD.

Corr captured the hot seat on Sunday with a win over Julie Kelly. Kelly took the trip to the one-loss side and faced off with Kim Shaw. Shaw had just defeated Pam Bell on the one-loss side to avenge an earlier loss to her. Although Bell settled for fourth place, she clinched the Women's US Open qualifier by being the top non-pro player left in the field.

The match for second and third went Shaw's way 7-2, to set up the finals between Corr and Shaw in a rematch of their battle less than two weeks ago at the WPBA Delta Classic. Shaw won that battle on her way to a 4th place finish. This time, it was Corr who came out on top with a 7-3 victory.

Corr collected $650 for first while Shaw took $510 for second.

The CAT Tour's next event will be the 2003 Women's Virginia State 9-Ball Championship at Champion Billiards and Sports Café in Arlington, VA on June 28 - 29, 2003.
