D’Alfonso and Adkins split Indianapolis 9-Ball Bar Table winnings

After Dee Adkins came back from the semifinals of the Brickyard Billiards 9-Ball Bar Table event on the weekend of October 31-November 1, and took the first set of a true double elimination final against Tommy D'Alfonso, the two decided to forego a second set and split the first and second place prize money. The $1,500-added Open event drew 56 entrants to Brickyard Billiards in Indianapolis, IN.

Adkins and D'Alfonso met first in the hot seat match, after Adkins had sent Rick Schroeder west 9-7 and D'Alfonso did likewise to Brian Artrip 9-6. The hot seat match that followed went double hill before D'Alfonso prevailed and waited for Adkins to come back.

On the one-loss side, Brian Groce advanced to meet Artrip, after victories over Jeff Beckley 9-6 and John Betinoui  9-7. Jason Klatt defeated Chris Bartram 9-3 and Steve Oaks 9-4 for the right to square off against Schroeder. With a 9-3 win over Artrip and a 9-7 win over Klatt, Groce and Schroeder advanced to the quarterfinals, where they battled to double hill. Groce won the deciding match and faced Atkins in the semifinals.

Adkins got his second chance at D'Alfonso with a 9-5 win over Groce and then repeated that score in the opening set of the true double elimination finals against D'Alfonso. It was at that point, with Sunday night turning into early Monday morning, that the two opted to split the first and second place prizes and share the event championship.
