With the recent changes to the Desert Classic Tour, also comes a rebranding, new tour ownership and more announcements. Starting with the 2015 season, The Desert Classic Tour will be known as the Diamond Pool Tour.
The Tour has changed ownership and is now being run by Mike Howerton, Scott Frost and Chuck Parrill. All three new owners have been fixtures in the Arizona Pool Community for years and are very excited to be involved with the tour.
Diamond Billiard Products has come on board as a title sponsor for the tour, and the tour will be giving away a Diamond 7’ Smart Table at the 2015 Season Finale to one lucky tour participant. All paid entries to the tour during the 2015 season will earn that player one entry in a random drawing that will be held at the season finale. The lucky winner will be responsible for delivery and setup fees, but the table will be free of charge.
The 2015 Season Finale will actually take place in 2016, with a $2,500 added event at Casino Del Sol Resort in Tucson. Casino Del Sol Resort, southern Arizona’s premier entertainment and gaming destination, offers nearly 1,000 slot machines, live blackjack, poker and bingo. Guests can choose from six restaurants and three bars that feature live entertainment Thursday – Saturday nights, in addition to world-class entertainment at AVA Amphitheater.
Also joining the 2015 season as a sponsor, will be QB Custom Cues. QB Custom Cues have been producing quality cues for well over 10 years and are coming on board with two custom cues to be awarded to players this season. One cue will be awarded at the season finale to the season’s top “B” player, and another will be awarded to the season’s top junior player. Remember that Arizona junior players play for free at all Diamond Pool Tour stops.
Every event on tour will feature a $250 added second chance tournament on Sunday, sponsored by Neil’s Garage Cabinets. Neil’s Garage Cabinets are the Valley’s oldest Garage Cabinet Company. Greenmail Internet Marketing has come on board to sponsor the top female finisher bonus as each event, as well as a bounty on the winner of the previous tour stop. The first event of the 2015 season will see a $50 bounty on the Desert Classic Tour’s 2014 Season Finale winner Mitch Ellerman. If a player can eliminate Ellerman from the event, they will win an additional $50 in prize money, as well as the appreciation of all other players still in the event.
These sponsors will join Volturi Custom Cases, Cue Sport International and the local BCA, APA and TAP pool leagues as sponsors of the 2015 Diamond Pool Tour.
A new website is in the works for the tour, but until that site launches, players can find more information on the old Desert Classic Tour website at
