Dustin Gunia is the Big Dog in Des Moines

The ninth stop of the 2006/2007 McDermott All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) featured a $1,000-added purse and a full sixty-four players, hosted by owner Marc Oeslager and tourney director John Athens at Big Dog Billiards in Des Moines, IA, on Saturday, December 16. The event featured double-elimination 8-ball on 8-foot bar boxes, and Dustin Gunia of Omaha, Nebraska - rated a “5” on a regional handicap system used – marched undefeated to the finals. Dustin out shot Wes Nemmers (Clive, IA) [5] 5-2 in the A-side semi-finals and Ron O'Meara Jr. (Cedar Rapids, IA) 5-3 in the A-side finals to take the hot seat. Matches in the B-side bracket leading up to the tourney finals included Marc Oeslager (Fargo, ND) [5] stopping Wes Nemmers at 5th place by a 5-1 margin and Chad Vilmont (Clinton, IA) [6] eliminating Shannon Rasmussen (Cedar Rapids, IA) [5] 6-2, tying Rasmussen with Nemmers. Oeslager built up his momentum by ousting Vilmont 5-4 and O'Meara 5-2 and gaining a title shot at Gunia. In the first set of the finals, Gunia continued his mastery over the field with a 5-2 victory over Oeslager for the title!

By virtue of first-place Dustin Gunia being the highest-finishing ACS member, he qualified for a free singles entry into the 2007 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS.
