Efren “Bata” Reyes-powered Philippine Team wins Taiwan Pool Classic

Efren "Bata" Reyes, regarded as one of the best pool players of all time, led Team Philippines to a 13-10 victory over host Chinese-Taipei in the 2018 Pool Classic Competition dubbed as Taiwan versus Philippines held at the Taroko Mall in Taichung City, Taiwan on September 21 to 23, 2018.
 
Other members of Team Philippines are World 9-Ball champion Carlo Biado, Johann Chua, Jeffrey Ignacio and Roland Garcia. Puyat Sports official Christine “Ish” Caparras is also in Taichung City, Taiwan.
 
The Chinese-Taipei squad was composed of Ko Pin Yi, Ko Ping Chung, Chang Jun Ling, Chen Yu Chung and Yu Huan Chang.
 
Team Philippines pocketed 10,000 US Dollar for their impressive performance while host Chinese-Taipei received 5,000 US Dollar for their efforts.
 
Long Time-billiards patron Aristeo "Putch" Puyat congratulated Team Philippines for their victory in the 2018 Pool Classic Competition in Taichung City, Taiwan, saying their triumph once again proved that Filipinos are indeed "world class." 
 
"Once again, congratulations Efren (Reyes), Carlo (Biado), Johann (Chua), Jeffrey (Ignacio) and Roland (Garcia). You have made every Filipino proud of your triumph," said Aristeo "Putch" Puyat , president of the Billiards Sports Confederation of the Philippines (BSCP).
 
In some of the matches, Reyes toppled Chang, 6-4, Reyes and Ignacio beat Ko Pin Yi and and Chen, 6-3.
 
Ignacio, meantime blasted Ko Pin Yi, 6-0, Biado edged Chang Jung Lin, 5-4, Biado and Garcia yielded to Ko Pin Yi and Ko Ping Chun, 5-6.
 
The tournament featured singles and doubles matches in the 8,9 and 10 ball competition.
 
Chua and the rest of the team proceed to Beijing, China for the CBSA Miyun International 9-ball Open Tournament.
