Ewa Laurence wins Hall of Fame vote

'The Striking Viking' Ewa Mataya Laurance will be the latest inductee into the Billiards Congress of America Hall of Fame in the Greatest Players category.

Informed sources are reporting that Ewa Mataya Laurance has beaten out Allen Hopkins and Earl Strickland and will be inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame on April 1st at the Las Vegas Hilton.

Laurence, a touring pro on the WPBA Tour for over 20 years, finished the 2003 season in 11th place on the WPBA Points list. Laurence is more known now as half of the regular commentating crew on the ESPN telecasts of the WPBA.

Laurence's best year on tour was 1990, when she won 5 of the 8 WPBA Tour Stops including three in a row. Laurence came back with two more wins in 1991, including a win at the coveted WPBA Nationals.

Laurence went without a title again until 1994 when she was crowned World Champion with a win at the WPA World Championships.
