Fu Che-wei Faces Snooker Legend Davis In Last 16

Che-Wei Fu

Fu Che-wei is already enjoying his best ever run in the World Championships and will be hoping to reach the quarter-finals on Friday, November 10.

The player from Chinese Taipei has been in stunning form with shock victories in the knock-out stages against Marcus Chamat and two-time winner Chao Fong-pang and will now face six-time World Snooker Champion Steve Davis in the last 16.

This encounter will be staged on the main table at the Philippine International Convention Center and will start at 9pm local time (+8 hours ahead of GMT.)

Spaniard David Alcaide, who is also enjoying his finest performance in the tournament, plays at 4pm on table one against local hope Rodolfo Luat before Scotland's Pat Holtz meets defending champion Wu Chia-ching.

The other match on table one takes place after the Fu v Davis tie and sees Filipino Jeff De Luna up against the impressive Luong Chi Dung of Vietnam.

Canadian Tyler Edey had never qualified for the tournament before but fine victories in the last 64 against Thorsten Hohmann (Germany) and Ricky Yang (Indonesia) in the last 32 ensure his place in the Last 16, and therefore an automatic place in the 2007 World Pool Championship.

He meets Liu Cheng-chuan in the first match on table two before Ronato Alcano, conqueror of Efren Reyes, faces 2005 runner-up Kuo Po-cheng of Chinese Taipei.

In the evening session on table two, China's Li He-wen faces Sandor Tot of Serbia and Montenegro and German Ralf Souquet is up against Russia's Konstantin Stepanov.
