Great Southern Billiard Tour Championship Day Two Wrap-Up

Shane Van Boening eliminated Johnny Archer

The second day of the Great Southern Billiard Tour Championship is drawing to a close at the Diamond Billiard Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The nine-ball main event has had its ups and downs today with such names as Stevie Moore, Shane Van Boening, Jonathan Hennessee and Johnny Archer being sent to the one-loss side. Earlier in the day, Thornfeldt added a notch to her belt with her 11-5 win over Archer, but ultimately was sent to the one-loss side by Sparky Ferrell 11-6 tonight. Jessie Middlebrooks was up one himself from a win over Shane Van Boening 11-10 and is awaiting his next match with Larry Nevel along with Rafael Martinez v. Cliff Joyner.

A couple of interesting match-ups on the one-loss side that are next in line will be Monica Webb and Helena Thornfeldt pitted against each other, and Shane Van Boening and Stevie Moore battle it out. But for Friday night, the big upset of the evening was the elimination of Johnny Archer after his run-in with Shane Van Boening on the one-loss side. The final score was 11-5.

The $1000 entry ten-ball bank ring game took place this evening as well. After almost three hours of play, a winner was determined between the final two players Tony Fargo and Shannon Daulton. Fargo came out on top taking home a total of $5000 in prize money from this winner take all event. Entered into the event other than Daulton and Fargo were Billy Young, Cliff Joyner, and Alex Pagulayan.

Saturday, coverage will continue on the main event which will have the first rounds begin at 1 p.m. (winners side matches) and the one-loss side will play at 2:30 p.m. and then again at 4:00 p.m. The final round of the evening of the main event will be held at 5:30 p.m. for the winners side of the bracket. The field will be taken down to the final sixteen for play on Sunday.

Then at approximately 8 p.m., the excitement of the $1000 entry ten-ball ring game will start and as previously reported, some names already entered include Shane Van Boening, Johnny Archer, Shannon Daulton, Bobby Pickle, Billy Young, Stevie Moore, Larry Nevel, Gabe Owen, Jonathan Hennessee, and Billy Bailey. The ring game will be opened up to a total of sixteen players, contact the venue to be added to the list of entrants.
