Haddad wins All American Tour Stop in Lakewood

John Rivera, Nick Smith, Mark Haddad and Rick Field

The thirty-seventh stop of the 50-stop 2008/2009 Pechauer All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) was hosted at Greenfields Pool & Sports Bar in Lakewood, CO, on Saturday, February 28.  The $1,000 added “Denver Winter 9-Ball Open” featured 33 players in a double-elimination format on 7-foot bar boxes.  Mark Haddad (Broomfield, CO) dominated Rick Field (Denver, CO) in the A-side finals by a 5-2 margin to gain the hot seat.  Previously in the A-side semi-finals, Haddad fended off John Rivera (Colorado Springs, CO) 5-2, while Field strafed Andy Pettinger (Denver, CO) 5-1.
The B-side showcased Ed Borrego (Denver, CO) eliminating Ruben Silva (Colorado Springs, CO) at 7th place by a 5-4 margin, while Dino Devoe (Longmont, CO) suffered the same 7th place fate at the hands of Nick Smith (Colorado Springs, CO) 1-5. 5th place spots were filled by Andy Pettinger losing out to Nick Smith 2-5, and Ed Borrego falling to John Rivera 3-5. Nick Smith then kicked into a higher gear to stop John Rivera's's march at 4th place by a 5-1 margin, and Rick Field's run at 3rd place, 5-0.  This set up Nick Smith's rematch with undefeated Mark Haddad for the title, but the results were similar to the earlier match, as Haddad dominated by a 5-1 margin for the title!
By virtue of Nick Smith being the highest-finishing ACS member in the event, he qualified for a free 8-Ball singles entry into the 2009 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS.  The ACS wishes to thank sponsors J. Pechauer Custom Cues, Championship Billiard Fabric, Nick Varner Signature Cases and oZone Billiards for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the Pechauer All American Tour.
