Its certainly not the "same old, same old" at this years US open. This year both the players and spectators alike are arriving at a completely new scene here at the Holiday Inn in Virginia Beach, Va. The U.S. Open is being played for the first time in its new venue, the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center only three blocks from the promoter's pool room "Q-Masters".
As I type this brief story work is still going on building the bleachers around the several competition rooms, plus the Accu-Stats Arena, which is also picking up its finishing touches.
At this point the field is comprised of 215 players and this year there is a big contingent of European players making the trip across the pond to see if they can pick up last minute Mosconi Cup points. The same of course goes for the US Pro players that are just outside of the first five places in the point race.
This year all eyes will be on Darren "Dynamite" Appleton, as he attempts to make it a "THREE PEAT" as he tries to be the first player to win three consecutive US Opens!
