Jimmy Gassett from Virginia Beach, Virginia defeated Chad Pike from North Carolina to take the Virginia Beach Billiard Club's BCAPL Singles 8 Ball Championships held at Barry Behrman's Q Master Billiards in Virginia Beach, Virginia on April 24th. He took home $1000.00 plus an entry into this years US Open 9 ball Championships to be held in October of this year.
It was a hard fought road to the finals. The field consisted of 40 men and women that came from Maryland, Pennsyvania, North Carolina Western Viginia and a hand full of local players. “It was one of the toughest fields i had ever seen in an ameture event in a long time”, said the tournament Direector and Promoter David Girouard from the Virginia Beach Billiard Club.
Chad Pike was moved to the one lost side when he played Jimmy Gassett for the hot set, Chad played great to defeat Trevor Stanley to return for a rmatch with Jimmy Gassett in the finals. he continued to the same going up 3-0. But thre was no quit in jimmy. he fought back to go up 4-3, Chad won the next game to make it a one game fanally for the championship. Jimmy broke and made a ball on the break, he ran 5 balls and got hocked. Jimmy played a save that was just short. Chad ran 5 balls and misted the 6th one and Jimmy clost it out from there to take the grown.
