Kelly Fisher to Finals: China Stopped

Manila, Philippines-  There will be no Chinese World Champion in 10-Ball. Great Britain's Kelly Fisher made sure of two things; prove that no country is untouchable and also reach one step closer to her personal goal of becoming the World Champion of pool for the first time. Fisher's defeat of Yu Han of China 9-4 has kept her undefeated streak alive. Today at the Yalin Women's World 10-Ball Championship, it will be decided the new face of 10-Ball in women's pool in the sport's hardest game and tournament to win.  The finals takes place today at 5pm inside  Robinson's Galleria .

Kelly Fisher controlled the match from the first game as she cleared an open table to make it 1-0. Yu won the next to level 1-1, but Fisher took advantage of Yu mistakes to lead 3-1. Fisher also made her share of errors to let Yu tie at 3-3. A bathroom break with Yu's coach, while Fisher went also to gather herself. Fisher came back and took the next 4 games and led 7-3. Yu would win one more but her game was not there today as the pressure of being the sole Chinese left and the World Championship title on the line. Fisher closed out the match 9-4.
 
 
"It wasn't pretty, but I'm excited about being in the finals for the very first time", said Fisher. "I want to do it for the fans here ,too. The Filipino fans are so lovely here."

The Chinese have dominated the World 9-Ball Championship the past 3 years plus many China major events with foreigners. This will be the second time China has not had a player in the World 10-Ball Championship finals. China had the largest contingent of players in the event with 8 players, one third of the field.

"This World Championship is not in China. It makes a big difference", says Fisher.
Fisher moves to the finals and awaits the winner of Ga Young Kim of Korea and Pei Chen Tsai of Taiwan.
